U8s Mini-Blitz at Cherryvale
The U8s really enjoyed the mini-blitz at Cherryvale, where they got the chance to show off their skills in front of their parents and siblings. Bredagh and Clann Eireann each had 2 teams of U8s which played in a round-robin format.
The U8s played very well in their matches and enjoyed the day, especially the party bags at the end!

Team: Annie Kerr McKenna, Aoibhin Brentnall, Aoife Henderson, Chloe Henderson, Anna O'Keefe, Caitlin Cunningham, Fiona Dolan, Caitriona Dolan, Catherine McConvey, Emer Mageean, Eva McStay, Kara McCleave, Katie Crouch, Megan Crouch, Laura Doyle, Orla Blaney, Orla McLoughlin, Ruby McKinney, Bronagh Donaghy, Anna McKee, Lily McKee, Meadbh O'Keefe, Sian Curran

Thanks to the referees and helpers on the day and thanks to all the parents who brought tea and coffee and biscuits!

Under 8 tournament
The Bredagh U-8 girls footballers travelled to Moneyglass on Saturday to compete in what turned out to be a most enjoyable blitz. A total of 19 U-8s attended on the day which enabled us to enter two teams which both ably competed with with Creggan, Antrim and Moneyglass. All the girls played with great determination, commitment and plenty of skill.
There were good performances from the defenders such as Eva Mcstay, Caitlin Cunningham, Chloe Henderson, Bronagh Donaghy and especially Caitriona Dolan who played her socks off. Aoibhin Brentnall played in goals for both teams and provided great kick-outs. Midfielders Kara McCleave, Orlagh Blaney, Annie Kerr McKenna and Sian Curran tackled hard all day. Outstanding performances from Anna O'Keefe, Anna Mckee and Orlagh McLoughlin helped the Bredagh teams to drive forward at every opportunity.
Forwards such as Laura Doyle, Fiona Dolan, Katie Crouch and Aoife Henderson kept the pressure on the opposition and Miya and Ella Chouda, making their Bredagh debuts, got stuck in too.
Overall the two Bredagh teams had 4 victories, 1 loss and 1 draw which was superb - and everybody got 3 full matches of play!

We look forward to an exciting blitz at Cherryvale on Saturday 16th September as the girls skills and play has improved immensely.

Under 8 Bredagh Vs Moneyglass
The Bredagh U8 Girls football team enjoyed their friendly match against Moneyglass.

Aoibhin started in goals and did very well with her catching and her kick-outs. In defence Molly tackled really well and Cate never let her player get the ball. Anna McKee was her usual fearless self and Chloe Henderson did well getting possession off Moneyglass. A strong Moneyglass team got a few good scores coming up to half-time.

In midfield Orla and Kara came into the match with some good forward runs and Anna O’Keefe seemed to be playing everywhere as she put in a lot of running.

In the forward line Lily and Aoife managed to get a lot of possession and Laura and Katie didn’t let the Moneyglass defence rest for a minute.

All in all everyone gave 100% effort – I’m sure there were a lot of girls who slept well on Wednesday night.

Bredagh under 8 Vs Bryansford
The Under 8 girls were unstoppable against Bryansford on Sunday last and every member of the team played amazingly well. Starting from the back, Aoibhin Brentnall began the match in goals but she didn't have too much work to do in the first half. She moved up to the forward line in the second half and was involved in some great scores. In front of Aoibhin were Katie Crouch, Anna O'Keefe, Catriona Dolan, Molly Porter and Eva McStay who were the defenders and whose job it was to stop the Bryansford forwards from coming in to score. These girls did a great job, and they all had an opportunity to play in the forward line in the second half. They showed how well they could solo and take their four steps in between. In midfield Orlagh Blaney and Orlaith McLoughlin were very good at catching the Bryansford kickouts. They worked very well together in getting the ball up to their forwards. They were full of confidence and showed great ball handling skills.
The half forwards of Emer Mageean, Fiona Dolan and Kara McCleave saw a lot of the ball during this match and were responsible for a number of well taken scores. Megan Croch and Niamh Edgar were playing at full forward and again showed how well they could use the ball when they got it in their hands.
All the girls who played showed how well the training they were doing on Wednesdays and Saturdays was paying off. They tackled well and showed great enthusiasm. Everyone wanted to have a go, and they communicated well with each other. This was a great game for the Under 8 girls and they can all be very proud of how well they played as a team.

Girls' Football Mystery Tour
All was revealed on Saturday 22nd August when the Bredagh U-8, U-10 and U-12 girls footballers headed off on their Mystery Tour. The girls enjoyed a beautiful September day and headed off from Cherryvale on the bus.

First stop was the Moneyglass club in Antrim for some friendly matches for the U-8, U-10 and U-12 matches. The girls really enjoyed the matches. They played with great skill and teamwork and fought hard for every ball. Moneyglass were very welcoming and generously provided drinks, sandwiches and treats for the Bredagh visitors. Thanks to Moneyglass for their great hospitality.

The girls then headed off to Carnfunnock Country Park on the Antrim coast where they spent the rest of the day. Activities started with a visit to the Maze where by good luck the same number left the maze as had entered it. Highlight of the day was the X-Factor competition at the Giant Bird tables where the girls took it in turns to display their singing and dancing talents. The girls then tucked into their barbeque before heading to the activity centre to try out the Adventure Playground and Outdoor Chess. It was time to head home, watching Scooby Doo on the bus for the second showing of the day, back to Cherryvale and the waiting parents. A great day out was had by all. Thanks to the coaches and helpers - Laura Willighan, John McGale, Colm Murray, Cera McArdle, Duana McArdle.
