Senior hurling challenge report
In a senior challenge hurling game Bredagh were routed by Glenarm in what was a total mismatch on Sunday afternoon. Bredagh travelled with a severely depleted squad where both coaches, Ciaran Donnelly and Rory Galway had to field to make up the numbers. Veterans Liam McCollum, Fergal McCamphill and young Michael Whyte showed a good fighting spirit and the rest of the team worked hard but really were unable to cope without twelve of their colleagues who weren't available.

Panel and scorers: Rory Galway, Nick Nolan, Paddy McGrenaghan, Michael
Whyte, Eoghan Donnelly, Liam McCollum, Mark Heron, Paul Doole, Ian Galway,
Cathair Bonnar, Fergal McCamphill 0-1, Paul Moriarty, Paul Boyle, Lorenzo
McMullan, Paddy Byrne, Ciaran Donnelly, Kevin Muldoon.

Minor challenge report
Bredagh 1-10 St Johns 1-10

Bredagh Minors travelled to St John's with a squad much depleted due to the St Patrick's Day festivities. U-16s Donal Hughes and Deccie O'Hara stepped into the breach and performed brilliantly against the All County Drumaroad men. Bredagh secured a well deserved draw, which seemed unlikely with 5 minutes to go when trailing by 3pts.
The game was played on St John's new pitch, which must now be one of the best surfaces in the County. Against the backdrop of the Mournes covered in snow and with a gale at their backs, Bredagh had only a 6 - 3 lead at half time. Things didn't look good as they were sooned pegged back as St Johns drew level, but Bredagh, inspired by Owen Costellos surging runs and John McKennas high fielding soon found their scoring range and exchanged points with the home team. Then St Johns scored their goal and thing looked bleak. Up stepped Sean Irwin and Cormac Hughes though, to set up Mark McElroy who rifled a low drive to the net. Bredagh went one up only to be pegged back by a late, dubious free.
A very creditable and gutsy performance by Bredagh - full credit to all 17 who travelled!!

Senior hurling challenge report
Bredagh stepped up a level when they took on Antrim Division 2 side
Glenarm and surprised both Glenarm and themselves with a comfortable 10 point victory at Cherryvale on Saturday.McMullan managed to keep a clean sheet and got a point to boot when he switched up front late on. The defence was sound especially Michael Whyte who cleared his lines consistently, young Michael Mullan was another one who caught the eye. Captain Liam McCollum put on a man-of-the-match performance and was well supported by Brian Connolly who played another stormer at right half-back. Unfortunately an x-ray after the game identified a broken bone in Brian's right hand which he sustained in the first ten minutes(although you wouldn't have noticed based on his performance) which will put him out of commission for the next six weeks. 21st Birthday boy Galway and Doole looked sharp in midfield with both players getting through a mountain of work over the hour. In the half-forward line new boys Anderson and Bonnar proved effective throughout and are great additions to a strenghening squad while upfront Boyle, Power and McLoughney were a constant threat to the Glenarm defence. Panel and scorers: Lorenzo McMullan 0-1, Michael Whyte, Fintan McDonnell, Rory McCaughey, Brian Connelly, Liam McCollum, Stevie McGettrick, Ian Galway 0-3, Paddy Byrne, Cathair Bonnar 1-1, Jack Anderson 0-1, Eoghan Donnelly 0-1, Seamus McLoughney 1-1, Paul Boyle, Paul Doole 1-1, Mark Heron, Paul Johnstone, Ultan Power, Nicholas Nolan, Ciaran Nixon, Matthew McAfee 1-0, Michael Mullan.
