U14 hurlers pipped!

U12 football notice
U-12 Glenavy Tournament Postponed - The U-12 football tournament scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed due to the adverse weather forecast. Watch this space for a new date.


U14 girls-training break
Training for U14 Girls Football is breaking for a few weeks. Training resuumes in Cherryvale on Sat 28th July. Also, click on U14 ladies for recent news and reports.


Senior ladies shine
A great performance by the Senior ladies team who drew away to Annaclone last night in the League 1-11 to 1-11. Only eight of the normal senior line up started the game with the rest made up of the younger generation coming through. Report to follow


Underage Camogie news
There will be no U8 or U10 Camogie training in July although there will be a blitz on the 7th July for the U8's and U10's. Check Camogie section of website for further details


U14 football notices
U14 Football - East Down School of excelence- Final trials. The East Down U-14 School of Excellence trials will be held in St Patrick's Park Newcastle at 1-00pm on Saturday 30th June. All players notified at the previous trials are requested to attend by 12-30pm. Also, the following players who were unavailable last week should also attend :
Jack Hollywood, Daniel Robinson, Niall Irwin , Eoghan Curran
Players should make their own travel arrangements as the Management team are unavailable due to holidays and other commitments.




The U14 match against Downpatrick which had been scheduled for this Thursday 28th June has been postponed. Please check the Website for further details. Training on Sunday Jul 1st as normal.

U14 girls-lift crisis!
The U14 Girls Football team had a match in Mayobridge last night (Thursday) and due to a shortage of lifts, it was not possible to bring the full squad and some girls had to be left behind in Cherryvale.This is not the first time that the U14s have struggled to get enough transport for matches. We appeal to all the parents to help with transport to away matches, to avoid a repeat of the same situation and girls being disappointed


Girls score victory
The Intermediate girls defeated Aughlisnafinn in the league last night by 6-16 to 1-5 report to follow.

Boy's shine for Hurlers
Down 5-09 - Antrim 1-17: Down U16 hurlers opened their campaign on Saturday with a well deserved win over a strong Antrim team. Two Bredagh lads started, Paddy Woods at full back and Donal Hughes at left half back, with Michael Guerin on the bench. Well done lads!!

Pitch OK for TONIGHT
The pitch at Ballyvarley has been inspected at lunchtime and passed fit for tonight's U-13 hurling friendly with Bredagh. Players to meet at 6pm in Cherryvale, all lifts welcome. Squad: Jack Hollywood, Dario Angelone, Stephen O'Connor, Sean McGuigan, Aaron Maguire, Michael Deery, Mark Quinn, Ronan McKegney, Deccie Magee, Robert Graham, Lorcan Smylie, Michael Doran, Joe Shields, Aidan Donaghy, Peter Rice, BJ Cunningham, Ronan Smith, Oisin Smylie and Caolan Schiable.


U12 hurling notice
The rescheduled U12 hurling match with Ballycran will now go ahead on Wednesday next, 20th June at 7.30pm in Ballycran (Not Tuesday 19th June!!). Players to meet at Cherryvale at 6.15pm.


U14 footballers beat Carryduff
U14 footballers scored a great victory against Carryduff, winning on a scoreline of 3-12 to Carryduff's 2-7. Read report in Under 14 football section.

U12 Camogie match v Ballyholland Saturday 16th June cancelled, victim of the weather I'm afraid!

Reserve Championship game against Drumaness cancelled on Sunday evening - All Belfast pitches unplayable and Drumaness field is under a couple of feet of water!

U-14 Hurling Game on Monday
An away match has been organised for this Monday, June 18th at Ballyvarley. Players to meet at 6pm in Cherryvale, all lifts welcome. Under 12 Boys play Castlewellan on Sunday 17th June in Cherryvale with a 12noon throw in: meet at 11.15 in Cherryvale.
Training continues in Cherryvale on Friday evening at 6.30 pm.

Girls U-8' & U-10' notice
The Football away day for U8s and U10s is on this Saturday 16th June. Please see U10 section of the web site for more information.
For the rest of the summer, as well as training on Saturdays there will be a practice match each week.This week the Practice Match is on from 5:30-6:30 on Tuesday evening at Cherryvale. Teams will be picked at 5:30 sharp so late arrivals will have to wait until the second half before joining in

Bredagh Senior Men's footballers had a two point victory in their derby match with St Paul's on Friday 8th June.

The U12 hurling match scheduled for 2pm on Saturday in Portaferry is cancelled. Portaferry can't play the game due to a schools hurling tournament - Bredagh players should now report to Cherryvale at 1.30pm on Saturday and not 12.30pm as originally planned.We will try to get a challenge match organised in Cherryvale.

U12's hurlers v Ballygalget
Bredagh 2-1 Ballygalget 6-3:Bredagh U12 hurlers produced another encouraging performance in this extremely tough Down League Division 1 game. This was a much closer encounter than the corresponding away fixture three weeks ago chiefly because Bredagh are beginning to believe in themselves and are becoming more competitive with every game.Read full report here

The U14’s had a fantastic 17 point victory against their old rivals Kilcoo at Cherryvale on Thursday night winning 9-16 to 6-8.

Hurlers lose to Eoin Roes
Senior hurlers lost to Eoin Roes of Coleraine in the UHL division 3 to a scoreline of 6-17 to 2-07.As the score suggests Bredagh were well beaten by a very strong Coleraine side whose standard of play was a couple of notches above what Bredagh are used to. Read full report
