U8 & U10 Hurling Blitz reports The u8 and u10 hurlers had a successful and enjoyable day out in Ballycran on 28th June. Reports and photographs for u8s here and u10s here.
U12 Hurling Notice U12 Hurling now breaks for July and will recommence on Saturday 2nd August with a game against Ballycran - please watch the website for details.
Mixed fortunes for ladies Bredagh Ladies senior and intermediate teams had mixed fortunes in the championship this weekend. The intermediates lost narrowly to Bright after putting on a brave performance and will certainly be a stronger team for the experience. The seniors secured an emphatic victory over Annaclone to advance to the semi final. The Belles played some fantastic football and fully deserved their victory. This is a fantastic weekend for Bredagh Ladies in which almost 40 girls represented the club in championship. Well done to all involved.
U-10 Go Games Bredagh hosted a round of the U-10 Go Games event at Cherryvale on Saturday morning. Despite the weather, all the footballers enjoyed the matches. See all the pictures in the U-10 football section
U-14's Win Thanks to one of the goals of the season by Ryan McGarry, the boys U-14 football team defeated Castlewellan by 1 point on Thursday evening in their East Down league encounter. Read full report in the U-14 football section
Final School Report
 The final day of a successful 2008 SBN Schools League took place on Tuesday afternoon in Cherryvale. A lot of effort was required to make the event a success and the organising sub-committee would particularly like to thank Bredagh senior players, Amy Cunningham, Katie O'Rourke, Claire Byrne, Niall Devlin, Conor McDaid, Brian Rice, Rory McCaughey and Paul McGlade, who gave up their time on Tuesday afternoons and did a superb job to keep the event running smoothly. U8 & U10 Hurling Blitz U8 Hurling
U8s are reminded that those available should meet at Cherryvale at 10.30 on Saturday 28th June for the Ballycran blitz. Children should bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing. The blitz starts at 12noon. Please text/contact Liam (07980797489) or Donncha (07970536285) to confirm attendance.
Note the usual training at 1.30 is cancelled. Training will be on as normal on Saturday 5th July.
U10 Hurling
A limited number of U10 hurlers will be travelling to this Blitz as it clashes with Bredagh's U10 football Blitz. Those to travel to Ballycran have already been contacted and those dual players not going to Ballycran should attend the Football blitz
Minors Superb Bredagh Minors overcame a 7 point deficit to defeat St Mary's by 2 points on Wednesday evening. The final scoreline was St Mary's 1-13 Bredagh 3-09. Well done to all the lads for this great performance. Match report to follow.

Minor Hurling Report The Minor hurlers lost narrowly to Portaferry in Div 1 of the league on Monday evening. There is a report on the match here.

U-8 Ambassadors Recent McGreevy cup winners, Bredagh U-8 boys footballers, received praise from the tournament organisers who contacted the Bredagh club secretary and commented on the U-8's stating; "their behaviour (as well as their success of course) are a credit to your club and to their families"

Ladies Intermed. Championship Saturday 28th June @ 6.00pm Bredagh Ladies meet Bright in the quarter finals of the intermediate championship in Tullylish. The Bredagh Belles have worked extremely hard in preparation for this game and will be aiming to put in a big performance to show the quality within Bredagh Ladies. All supporters welcome.
Ladies Senior Championship Friday 27th June @ 8.00pm Bredagh Ladies take on Annaclone in the quarter finals of the senior championship in Castlewellan. The squad have prepared extremely well and the Bredagh Belles are thoroughly looking forward to the game. The Belles know that they are in for a titanic battle but are confident of the talent within the squad. All supporters welcome.
U-16 Match Notice The U-16 boys footballers have a Q/F Championship match v Bryansford at Cherryvale on Tuesday 24th June 2008. Players to meet at 6.45pm, throw-in 7.30pm.
U-10 Go Games Bredagh are hosting the next round of Go Games this Saturday 28th June at 10 am, for the boys U-10 footballers. All players, not involved with the U-10 hurling team at the Ballycran tournament on Saturday, are asked to be at Cherryvale for 10am sharp. Please bring a drink and suitable clothing for the weather. We will be playing games against Teconnaught, Carryduff and Darragh Cross. The Games should be completed by 12:30.

U-12's Win The U-12 boys footballers had a comprehensive win over Downpatrick on Sunday afternoon in the East Down U-12 league. The match finished with a scoreline of Bredagh 3-11 Downpatrick 1-7. Read report in the U-12 football section
Minor Football News Peter Wright Chemists, Four Winds, has sponsored Bredagh minor footballers for 2008-2009. The team are unbeaten and currently top the East Down minor league. Over the next 2 weeks, Bredagh have critical games, away to St Marys (Liatroim/Dromara)in the league on 25th June and home to Ballymartin in last 16 of the Down A championship on 2nd July.

U-14 B's Impress The boys U-14 B football team had an impressive win over a strong Bright team at Cherryvale on Thursday evening. The score was Bredagh 3-10 Bright 2-03. Well done to all the players for another great performance. Read report in the U-14 football section.
U-12 Notices Next league match for the U-12 boys footballers away to Downpatrick this Sunday 22nd June. Players to meet in Cherryvale at 10.30am. Training as usual on Friday evening in Cherryvale at 6.30pm. There will be a challenge match v St Pauls next Wednesday evening 25th June for the younger members of the panel, details to follow.

Win for Minors Bredagh Minors had a comprehensive win over Saul at Cherryvale on Wednesday evening. The final scoreline was Bredagh 4-14 Saul 2-8.
U-14 Match Notice Next game for U-14’s is on Thursday 19th June. This is a ‘B’ game against Bright in Cherryvale. Meet at Cherryvale at 6.45pm for a 7.30 throw in. Senior ladies v Clonduff Senior ladies v Clonduff tonight at Cherryvale @ 7.30pm.The Senior league finally gets up and running after a 5 week break, Bredagh Belles meet Clonduff in what should be a great encounter. Both teams will use this game as preparation for their respective championship matches next Friday 27th June where Bredagh play Annaclone at 6.30pm in Castlewellan. Throw-in for tonight's game against Clonduff is at 7.30pm in Cherryvale, all supporters welcome.

U-8 Match Notice As part of the build up to the big Ulster SFC clash between Down and Armagh two of the best clubs from each county are taking part in challenge matches this Saturday 21st June in Cherryvale. Bredagh U-8's v Tullysaran U-8's, all boys U-8 players to meet in Cherryvale at 10.45am sharp, throw in at 11.00am.
U-8 Success The U-8 boys football team won the prestigious Clonduff Tournament for the first time ever on Saturday afternoon.
 The lads played magnificently throughout the competition, culminating with a win over favourites Clann Eireann in the final. Well done to all the players, coaches and parents who were involved. Read report in the U-8 football section.
U12 hurling off! The U12 hurling match with Liatroim, fixed for this Saturday (21st June), has been postponed due to Feile. The game will be rearranged.

U-10's Victory The U-10 boys footballers won the Carryduff B group title for a third year in a row on Saturday afternoon

Hurling finals on Sunday Down play Antrim in the Ulster minor and senior hurling finals on Sunday. The minor martch will start at 1.30pm and the senior at 3.30pm. There are 3 Bredagh players in the minor panel: Cormac Hughes, Niall Donnelly & Donal Hughes. Try to get along and support them.

U-10 Carryduff Tournament U-10 players who have been contacted and confirmed their attendance are to meet in Cherryvale on Saturday morning 14th June. We will be leaving at 9:40am to be available at the Carryduff grounds for registration and pre-tournament parade at 10am. Any player going directly to the Carryduff ground then please advise Ciarán O’Keefe by text on 07767 886690. The tournament should be completed before 3pm and the Carryduff club have asked that as many as possible remain for the presentations. Each player will receive a packed lunch and drink provided by the home club and there will be tea, coffee, snacks available to parents and mentors. Please bring any additional drinks, sun creams (or more likely waterproofs!) as appropriate.
U-14 'B's Superb The U-14 boys football 'B' team showed superb form to record a great victory against Teconnaght at Teconnaght on Thursday evening. The final scoreline was Bredagh 3-9 Teconnaght 2-3. Match report in the U-14 football section.

Minors Win The Bredagh minor footballers notched up another great win on Wednesday evening defeating Ardglass in Ardglass by a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-9. Report to follow.
School Report - Week One The first day of the 2008 South Belfast News Schools Football League was a great success with a superb turn-out on Tuesday afternoon, June 10th, and according to Tournament Organiser Ciaran O'Keefe, 'all of the games were played with great enthusiasm and in good spirit and with plenty of skill'.
Five schools took part in the boys competition across two pitches so there were lots of games for the teams from St Bernard’s, St Joseph’s Carryduff, St Matthew’s, St Ita’s and Holy Rosary.

Schools League Preview Year Seven of the South Belfast News Schools League started on Tuesday June 10th in Cherryvale.
 St Bernard's were among the winners last year. This year, there's a hurling and camogie blitz this Friday, while weeks 2 and 3 of the SBN Schools League for boys and girls football will take place in Cherryvale on the next two Tuesdays, June 17th and 24th.
