Match Reports
Bredagh 2-1 Bryansford 3-4, Cherryvale March 2 They beat us last year and they did it again, but the margin was much less and the performance augurs well for the forthcoming matches.
Bredagh 4-2 Bright 2-1, Cherryvale March 9
Sinead Norwood and Polly Moane in action against Bright.
The Bredagh girls worked hard and competed fiercely right from the throw-in against Bright and their efforts were rewarded with an early goal from Cassie Moane. The midfield pairing of Sinead Norwood and Polly Moane dominated possession and kept the pressure on, while there was good work in the forward line by Sarah Nugent, Nicky Pauley, Enya McGurk, Cassie Moane and Enya McVeigh. Bright replied with a good goal but Sinead Norwood burst through to thunder a goal to the back of the net and regain the momentum. Polly Moane and Sarah Nugent added points to press home the Bredagh advantage. Bright came back again, but struggled to get points on the board with the half-back line of Orla Day and Cathy Short stopping their most promising moves and giving Bredagh the half-time advantage - Bredagh 3-2 - Bright 1-1.
In the second half Bright scored a goal to leave a gap of only four points between the teams, but the Bredagh full-back line of Meabh Hollywood, Nicci Linden and Blathnaid Smylie stayed firm, supported by Anna McAlliney, brilliant as ever in goals. Orlaith Downey, Eimear Murtagh and Cliona McCarney moved into the forward line and put great pressure on the Bright defence. Sarah Nugent scored a goal to put some daylight between the teams after good work from Shauna Leitch and Sian Robinson to bring Bredagh U-13s safely home, to the delight of their enthusiastic supporters at Cherryvale.

Downpatrick 0-0 Bredagh 3-3, Cherryvale March 23 Last year, we lost this game, but now we had a great turn-out of 24 players and they all performed brilliantly to record a significant victory. The points for winning mean that Bredagh can qualify from their group into the semi-finals if they beat Carryduff this coming weekend. Bredagh deserved their win with scores from Polly Moane (2-1), Kathryn Quinn (1-1) and Nicky Pauley (0-1).
Carryduff 1-4 Bredagh 2-3, Cherryvale March 30 Another chapter in the marvellous success of Bredagh's girls set-up came with this victory over neighbours and rivals Carryduff at their pitch in a close and exciting finish. The win qualified Bredagh for the county semi-finals for the very first time. We started up girls football before Carryduff but there were reports that they had been putting in extra training for the first game with Bredagh, and it proved on the day that they were a difficult proposition. But the girls came through with Kathryn Quinn's goal from Nicole's pass clinching the win and a little piece of history.
Kathryn Quinn scored the winning goal against Carryduff.

Smylie, Sinead Norwood, Polly Moane, Cassie Moane, Kathryn Quinn, Mary Flanigan, Sarah Nugent, Nicky Pauley, Enya

Missing (due to holiday/illness) - Emer Murtagh, Cathy Short, Aine McGurk, Nicole O'Connor, Orlaith Downey
The Bredagh Girls U-13 team performed brilliantly in their first ever Down semi-final before going down to Saval in
a hard-fought match.
Bredagh were unlucky to concede two early Saval goals after they were deflected past the unlucky Anna McAlliney in
goals. It was a testament to the tremendous spirit of the Bredagh girls that they fought back well with good passing
between the forward-line of Cassie Moane, Kathryn Quinn and Mary Flanigan.
Great blocking by Nicky Pauley and Enya McVeigh kept the pressure on Saval and this pressure was rewarded with a
goal from full forward Sarah Nugent, who returned early from her holidays to play in the match.
Saval scored a few excellent points despite stout defending from the full-back line of Nicci Linden, Kate Hollywood
and Meadbh Hollywood.
Half-Time - Saval 2-2 - Bredagh 1-0.
In the second-half Bredagh were playing against a strong breeze but the girls stuck to their task resolutely with
good defending from Blathnad Smylie, Orla Day and Emma Sharkey.
Polly Moane and captain Sinead Norwood worked tirelessly in midfield all day, enabling Bredagh to get a good share
of possession against the wind.
Anna McAliney made some great saves in nets and her excellent kickouts started off some good Bredagh moves with
Polly and Sinead competing well in midfield. This Bredagh possession enabled Kathryn Quinn to add a point from a
free.
Brigid Flanigan and Cliona McCarney were introduced in the second-half and brought new energy to the forward line.
Bredagh's fighting spirit was shown as the girls fought to the end and their efforts were rewarded when Cassie
Moane, whose intelligent running and passing had been a feature of the game, capped a great afternoon's work with a
great goal.
As Bredagh tired, Saval scored a couple of late goals to seal the victory over Bredagh.
Full-Time - Saval 6-4 - Bredagh 2-1.

Warming up for the match
St. Galls 1-7 v Bredagh 3-4, St.Galls Mon 5th May
Bredagh U12s were specially invited to St.Galls on May Day to celebrate the opening of the new pitch.
On a very windy day it was a game of two halves.
In the first half Bredagh dominated the play with great interchange between the midfield of Polly Moane and Orla Day and the forward line.
Great passing involving the forward line of Cliona McCarney, Cassie Moane and Sorcha Deery kep the pressure on St. Galls and Bredagh scored 1-2 without reply.
The fluent football continued with good running from Derbhla Rooney and Enya McVeigh creating space for Sarah Nugent to take some great scores.
It was always going to be a different game against the breeze and so it proved with St.Gall piling on the pressure in the second half.
Emer Murtagh showed great determination at full-back and was helped out by tough tackling from Orla Downey and Shauna Leitch.
Cathy Short, Blathaid Smylie and Orla Day made some brilliant interceptions at half-back forcing St.Galls to shoot some great long-range points.
Nicky Pauley and Polly Moane stuck to thir task well in the middle of the park, despite the St.Galls pressure.
In the last few minutes with only a goal in the match, St.Galls put Bredagh under pressure but Bredagh held firm, with Anna McAlliney dependable as ever in goals.
