Championship Reports

Eire Og v Bredagh ,      Eire Og    March 22nd
In the first outing of the year, the Under-8s were split into three teams to play 7-a-side games. Bredagh won one game and lost the other two narrowly.

Tom Doherty is an Under-8 Star with a big future.

Could it be Armagh's year again? One of their biggest fans, Ruairi Doyle, is keeping his eye on the ball.

Bredagh 3-6 Newry Mitchels 1-3,      Cherryvale    March 30th
The boys had a comfortable win over the visitors from Newry, with fine performances all round. Niall Kelly stood out with some determined attacking, and obviously all the coaching is paying off!

P5 Tournament,      St Galls    May 5th
Bredagh sent two teams to this competition on May Day. Details of the 'A' team are in the Under-10 section, and here are the details from the 'B' team:

We had four games against St Galls C, St Brigids B, Eire Og B and St Teresas B. Our team was made up mostly of P4/Under-8 players, but the other teams seemed to be a bit stronger with older lads. Still, the boys battled well and improved as the tournament went on. In the last game, Lorcan Smilie and Nicholas McCafferty scored two terrific points to end on a high. For many of them, this was their first experience of tournament football and it will stand to them in the months and years to come. Indeed, next year they will be the 'A' team.

SQUAD: Ruairi Doyle, Nicholas McCafferty, Niall Kelly, Donal McLaughlin, Donal O'Kane, Tom Doherty, Niall Fitzpatrick, Caolan Schiable, Eoin McCluskey, Oisin Smilie, Fionn Price, Cal McEvoy, Dominic McConville, Vittorio Angelone, Dario Angelone, Kieron Cleary, Lorcan Smilie, Mark Quinn, Robert Graham, Niall Fitzpatrick, Ruairi Sheridan.

Bredagh v St Endas,      Cherryvale    May 4th
Two games were played at Cherryvale in dreadful conditions, and both were well-contested. They were a good 'warm-up' for tomorrow's tournament at St Galls.

St Endas v Bredagh,      St Endas    June 22nd
Details to follow..

Trillick v Bredagh,      Trillick    August 8th

Bredagh v Carryduff,      Cherryvale    August 31st

Bredagh v Carryduff,      Cherryvale    May 11th
Bredagh Under-8s played three games on Sunday morning, May 11th, on adjoining pitches in a footballing extravaganza at Cherryvale. It really was a sight to see with great weather, great football and great encouragement from the spectators. The Bredagh 'A' team looked extremely impressive in their new kits and shorts and socks, with some determined and skilful displays from the likes of Niall Kelly, Lorcan and Oisin Smilie, Nicholas McCafferty, Lorcan McMullan, Ruairi Doyle and Niall Fitzpatrick, to name but a few.

Boys reach Semis,      Eire Og    Saturday June 7th
Peadar Doyle's P4s did themselves proud at the Eire Og Tournament by reaching the semi-finals where they lost to a big St Galls team. The boys improved as the competition went on and gained valuable experience for the future.
